Will hedgehogs poke you?

do hedgehogs poison you if theyre domesticated? or if you are their owner will the prick you?

  1. No, only if you poke them.

    No, they don't poison anyone, even if you eat them.  Domesticated or otherwise.

    You don't own a hedgehog.  They might visit/prick you though.


  2. It is legal to own domesticated hedgehogs in most states. Hedgehogs do have quills though, which makes them not very easy to pet. If you touch a quill then it will "poke" you but mostly it doesn't actually hurt. However, a hedgehog will not go out of his way to poke you with his pointy quills to cause you harm, lol.


  3. Um... hedgehogs do not carry a poison...

    They will roll into a ball so that if you hold them, their needles will hurt you, but this is only if it is detressed. Simply respect it, and don't over-handle it, and it will never become destressed.
