Which post-war President do you consider most under-rated? The three possible contenders seem to me to be:-

a) Johnson

b) Nixon

c) Carter

I excluded Ford since he was not around for long and the current President. But add others if you wish.

  1. Nixon, of course. He was the best qualified for the job republican president in 20 century (short of impeachment threat/resignment)

None of later republican presidents came even close in terms of knowledge and qualification.

  2. nixon

he was actually a brilliant man, good person in a troubled time

watergate was nothing compared to what has went on last 7 yrs

he will always be my political hero

  3. Carter...he was set up...and he is the closest thing to an American saint

    that I know!

  4. The two presidents most easily discounted and underrated are Eisenhower and Carter.

Eisenhower actually was a pretty good President--solid economic policies, progressive labor policies, and kept us out of foreign wars.

Carter was President at an almost impossible time--Johnson's Vietnam era deficit spending and entitlements, rise in world economies, an increase in real world, and massive interest rates killed an otherwise promising administration that believed in green politics, human rights, and liberal ideals.
