  1. To me, the key to your question is the word "good". Any opaque surface will act as a screen but to qualify it as good is a different story. To be a "good" screen, a surface must do the following;

    1) Accurately reflect light. ( not effect the color )

    2) Diffuse light so there is not a hot (bright spot)

    3) Provide a smooth surface. ( consider optical focus )

    4) If needed, block light from behind the screen.

    5) Provide a uniform image from off axis viewing.

       Consider a manual pull down screen. Matt White. One standard of the industry is Da-Lite. I believe it's www.da-lite.com

    I think B&H photo is also a retailer for Da-Lite.

    Don't waist your time and money attempting to make use of an improper product. A manual pull down screen af 100' diag should not cost you more then about $ 100.00.

       Good Luck

  2. no those blinds will not make a good screen. if your trying to save some cash you a plain white sheet stretched across your viewing area. stretch it tight to eliminate as many wrinkles as possible. this will give you a decent image but no where near as good as a quality screen.

  3. not really with all the bumps in it try getting a big white paper from office depot or taping poster boards on the wall for a temporary screen

  4. If you want to make your own screen, check out the discussions at AVSforum.com   There's some paints you can buy off the shelf that are pure white and ideal for a screen.  Some people prefer to use screens that are actually gray, since it helps improve contrast.  There's proprietary paints for that, or maybe someone has come up with a standard tint you can have made at the paint store.
