Question:

Will humans someday be able to put computers in their brains?

Take for instance, technology advances to the point where scientists or doctors will be able to improve the human brain by adding a computer chip in the brain. They'll somehow do it surgically, I am guessing. It may improve human memory and a whole bunch of other functions. Is this possible? Could this ever happen?

  1. Actually, the government, the military, industry, and people in very high places are working on this problem. It is called "brain / computer interface.  Much progress is being made in achieving this feat. Additionally, the human brain is currently being mapped, manipulated, and engineered. There have been a few artificial replacement parts for the human brain which actually work just like the real thing.

There will be a time coming when nano-implants will permit the human consciousness to access the internet wirelessly from anywhere on the planet.  One day it will be difficult to determine man from machine.

  2. Nobody knows it. We have ideas as like you.

  3. yes, we are already close with devices hat replace eyes and ears and connect via existing nerve pathways to the brain

  4. Well, who knows, but if you want to read about the subject, check out Ray Kurzweil's stuff, like, "The Singularity is Near." Very interesting.

  5. The human brain is actually much more powerful than most realize. The problem is most people don't use it often enough. As for people with brain damage I think that would be a great idea.

  6. that won't be improving-computers crash. the reason technology develops further is because there's a problem with the current model-always......and i doubt that the brain will sync with the comp-i mean it's the brain, not the leg or heart-its the control of ur whole system...it develops, it always has space, it has no errors, it doesn't crash, doesn't need an upgrade-

have you ever heard of a computer that is as old as 20 yrs that's still working?

about memory-do you remember your days in first grade, 4th grade?

(i don't know what age you are but say graduation) even if they're flashes, i'm guessing a computer won't survive that long

keep in mind-the human brain thinks up the chip, the human brain invents new technology if the human brain gets interrupted or God forbid, replaced by a chip, technology will cease to improve

my point-it will be the worst idea that will ever be brought up by scientists-unless yo want to prove me otherwise

  7. lol yes and no

Biotechnology will advance meaning we would create biological things invent cells etc not put computer chips and wire a human that will never work in the long future we will be able to grow back amputated limbs which will be possible soon

maybe get men pregnant who knows but not sticking in technology int biological things etc well probably be able to add cells to our brain for memory sight etc

  8. No. The brain isn't a computer... a computer processor won't change its speed. Certain transistors and transformers can be used to increase brain activity. Some experiments show that one can bring a person back to consciousness from a coma by literally shocking the brain. A surge of electricity will kick the brain into hyper-drive, basically restarting it. The thing we need to do is increase the brain activity. This could be done by providing a continuous flow of electricity... not that much, but just a tad.

We can't really increase the memory, but we can help people remember things... this can be done by applying a shock to the "hippocampus", an area that controls long term memory. Not a continuous flow, but a shock.

All of this would be done, as you said, surgically.
