my outdoor pipes are very slow to drain as the roots of trees are so thick inside. can't afford to get patio & drains replaced right now, so, if I pour Hydrocloric acid in them, will it eat away &;/or dissolve roots?

  1. better to get someone to rent a large rodder and try to cut some of it up.

  2. if your sure its roots then theres a crack in the line that the roots are getting in - plumbers have cameras and can help to locate the leak, then replace the line in that section.

  3. And the pipes themselves.

  4. I think it's sold in jugs at Lowe's.  It would take a huge amount to do anything to the large volume of roots you may have.  You will probably have to dig them out.

If you do use hydrochloric acid be careful of the fumes.

  5. The Hydrochloric Acid will get the roots away, however the drains will also disintegrate. this would give you a much bigger problem.

Sorry, but it looks like you'll have to find the money somewhere.

  6. Go and get copper sulfate.  This will in time eat the roots away.  Home Depot has it.
