i play middle linebacker/offensive guard. i can bench 280lbs. i run a 40 in about 4.75. i am only weigh 170 lbs but im only a sophmore so ill get heavier with all the weight training i do but im done growing (height-wise). so do u think that i am a prototype high school linebacker that will have a chance to play in a small college? Please If u can name some college linebackers that r really small

  1. Depends on how big your heart is, not your body.

  2. 5'8 170 is on the small side but alot of that depends on if you're looking at 1-A, 1-AA, or so on. If you're a sophmore you should still have some time to fill out. My Jr yr I was 6ft 160 with a 145lb max bench and by the start of Sr yr I had bulked up to 185lbs and a 315lb max bench press. A 280lb bench for someone your size is very impressive. Just make sure that you do things the right way. 4.75 isn't slow by normal people standards, but with respect to top level football players (particularly those who are small in stature) 4.5 or better is typically their meal ticket.

I'd say your best shot would be at CB,WR,RB if you have the necessary skill sets, but it will be an uphill battle to play at a big time program, simply due to height and weight, at 5'8" it may be tough to put on healthy weight, naturally and not lose speed.

Good luck to you, and keep working hard, you may get a shot somewhere. If you're in game stats are good enough it will be hard for someone not to take a look at you.

Also make sure you keep up your academics and stay out of trouble. If you look like a problem off the field it will make things that much tougher to get on the field.

  3. The answer is in your hands

  4. Your a midget. I'm that height and I'm only 13.

  5. you should wait till your senior year before thinking college

  6. Well Munchkin...sounds like you got the heart,so...follow the yellowbrick road...you gotta good plan with thinkin' small school...they love to get guys who play with heart.

  7. you will definitely have a chance to play in college

we had a guy two years ago, pretty much exactly your size also a mlb, who led the team in tackles and is now playing at an NAIA college in Joliet, IL.

we also had a wide receiver about that size that set school records in receptions, yards, tds

these guys worked hard every day and never took any plays off

there is always a place to play if that is what you want to do

  8. i don't know but bob sanders is about as tall as you but he plays safety.  maybe work on your speed and you'll be almost set at safety.

  9. it seems like u screwed urself by lifting too young thats why your short. Darren sproles is 5-6 and is in the nfl. Maybe you should rethink your question
