  1. if you have an hd output and a hd cables to plug in your dvd player.

  2. You can use your non-HD DVD player with your HDTV, but it won't be as 'clear and crisp' as an HD DVD player would be.  If you have a larger collection (over 100 disks) of non-HD DVDs the do keep your old player ... and because of the competition between HD DVD and Blu-Ray DVDs, I wouldn't start buying those disks until the 'winner' is more clear.  Right now the winner seems to be Blu-Ray, but my husband and I are going to wait until about June of next year before we decide which to 'upgrade' to ... and we WON'T be buying any 'new copies' of the stuff we already have, just getting the new ones in that format.  Yes, we do have a 'larger collection' since we own something over 200 of the 'regular' DVDS so far!

  3. yes just connect the same way. you could get more from your tv. why buy a hd tv but dont put anything hd into it?

  4. You can use it.. The picture will be fine. you are just not taking full advantage of your televisions resolution capabilities.

  5. yes, you will be able to, but the picture quality won't be that great. Try buying a dvd player that UPCONVERTS dvd to hd quality. go to your local electronics store, or just check on yahoo shopping by typing in upconverting dvd player, and put in your preferable price range and you will get an idea of what to buy. You don't have to buy an hd-dvd player because they don't make those anymore, go with blu-ray if you want to buy a nice dvd player, they upconvert normal dvds as well and the picture quality is absolutely stunning.

  6. standard DVD players will play on any TV.

  7. Yes, you can use the regular DVD player on your LCD HD TV, but you won't get an HD quality picture.  The picture will be better than it would be on a regular TV, but not as good as an HD DVD player would be on an HD TV.

  8. you can use it but you wont get the full benefits of hd

  9. Your TV will show movies that you play on any DVD player.  Hook it up using component (red, green and blue video cables, and left/right audio cables), or AV (red and white for audio, yellow for video).

Don't buy a "HD-DVD" player.  This format has lost out to Sony's Blu-Ray format, and no new movies are being pressed to HD-DVD.

There are "up-converting" DVD players that will play regular DVDs and adjust the video for the capabilities of the TV.  You must use an HDMI cable.  Make sure the HDMI cable comes with the up-converting DVD player, or you'll have another expensive cable to buy.  You can find refurbished up-converters for quite cheap.  Don't pay more than $100, and don't get an extended warranty, because it's an in-between technology.  Blu-Ray will replace regular DVDs completely when the prices go down.

    Happy viewing!

  10. it will work you just won't see the benefits of your hd tv

  11. HD simply means that the picture is high definition. I have a full HD Plasma that I use a "regular" dvd player on. The picture is just grainy or a bit pixellated the closer you get to the screen. We sit back about 20 feet from a 42' with a regular dvd player and it looks very clear and sharp. If your television has the component inputs (red, green, blue) or (red, white, yellow), or HDMI etc...

If you use the red green blue you get better pic quality than the red white yellow (red, white are audio).

Picture is nice and clear on ours with the red green blue regular output on dvd. Hope this helps.

  12. Yes you would be able to. Check for a scart socket thats all you need. You can use any non HD product with your FULL HD TV.

  13. sure u can use ur non hd dvd player with you hd tv. as hd(high defenation) is only required when you watching hd movies which are bit expensive these known as Blu-ray discs. later on you can buy a blu-ray dvd player and watch your hd movies on tv with no problem.

  14. don't worry it will still work

  15. It depends on whether you want to get a HD output

  16. You can, but your HD LCD TV will not preform to it's full potential as far as picture and sound. i suggest you get a HD dvd player
