  1. Like prior answers, it does depend of why it was "cancelled" - or was it "non-renewed."  Cancelled is just that - cancelled.  Non-renewed means the insurance is still dropping you, yet usually for nothing that happened as a result of what you actions.

If a result of claims, then that will depend on what the "new" company's guidelines are.  It does vary from company to company?

If because the insurance company is no longer doing business where you live, then there are usually other carriers that will insure you.

As a last resort, contact your states Dept of Insurance - they can easily guide you as to what , where, how, etc.

Depending of what state you live in, some states offer a joint underwriting "pool" for people whom can't get insurance through normal channels - for whatever reason.

    Hope that helps

  2. Sure, but the cost will be much higher.

  3. Depends.  Why were you canceled?

  4. It depends on why you were canceled.

Lately, many insurance companies have started to pull out of certain states. If this is the reason your policy was canceled, I'm sure you can find another company or state program to cover you. It may be more expensive, but at least your covered.

If the policy was canceled due to the frequency and/or nature of claims than it is not so simple. Rules vary from state to state , type of claim, and even the individual company, but the general rule is 2 claims per 5 years. If you file more than 2 claims within a 5 yr period, you can expect a cancellation notice coming soon. These poor souls must wait until they only have 1 claim in the past 5 years before a major carrier will think about insuring them.

The best thing to do is call a local insurance agent and find out.
