Im looking to put in a 12'' sub 225 watts with a built in amp.

will i blow out my speakers with this?

my speakers are stock but pretty loud just distorted if a lot of bass.

  1. yeah what that first guy said, and try turning down the bass setting on ur head unit to keep it from distorting the speakers too much....


  2. If the amp is just powering the sub then it will not effect the other speakers.

  3. like are you saying your going to get an another amp just for the sub?? the word built in makes me think your talking about hooking it up to a stock cd player amp if the sub has a 225watt max then your going to want to hook it up to the rms which is about half of the max watt other wise you will clip your sub and then blow it cliping is when the copper coil pops out of the magnet that's bad that's what makes subs distort and speakers too it sounds like you need some beter mid range speakers if you can pull your doors open or where ever the speakers are and see how many watts the speakers are then once you have that number find some replacement speakers "close to the same watts" you have to really pay attention make sure you look at the hz of the replacement speaker and the db of them too the hz is a frequence rateing the lower you can find the better!!! and the higher the db the louder it will be!!! good luck!! i hope i helped you out :)
