  1. Strange question. Your mouth stays moist as it is supposed to. Your mouth will heal up all by itself so don't worry.

  2. No you won't. I am experiencing a dry socket right now actually. When you have your teeth extracted a blood clot will form to protect the socket. Sometimes that will come out if you drink through a straw or if you try to eat things you are not ready for. Also do not spit! This will dislodge the clot. Sometimes it will just come out too. Your spit will have nothing to do with it. Just watch what you eat and do not  drink through and types of straw.

If you began to experience a throbbing pain that won't go away with any type of over the counter pain killer you most likely have a dry socket. Call your dentist ASAP. You will need to have a medication applied, usually with a little cotton, in the socket. It will take affect almost immediately and will need to be removed the next day or so. The socket will heal in a couple of weeks. Hope this will help to ease your mind.

  3. no i dont think so. i think dry socket is like when something goes wrong while your mouth is healing. i got mine out last summer it was sucky but the whole ordeal was over w. in a wk and the stiches fell out a lil while after. i def swallowed spit while i was recovering.

  4. not in my experience.  you can generally eat soft food a couple of hours after having them out.  i was eating porridge and ice cream around 6-8 hours after the extraction during the morning.

try biting on a moist tea bag after the extraction.  the tannic acid should help in the healing. and don't keep on biting the cotton for several hours after the extraction. i did that the first time -- when i removed the cotton i think the clot came along with it, after which i developed a dry socket.  i followed my dentist's directions to the letter during the second extraction and had no problems.

  5. No, the dentist or surgeon should put cotton in your mouth where the open cavities are and then usually after a couple of hours you can take those out and your good to go. No worries, there is hardly any complications after getting your wisdom teeth out besides some swelling and a sore mouth
