Ive been having a lot of braxton hicks contractions and ive been haing them since i was 36 weeks pregnant. And some days they feel really horrible and some days they are okay.

Im 38 weeks pregnant

But last friday my mucus plug broke...

Does that mean labor is approaching?

This is my first baby so i have no idea wut to expect?

I went to the docotr Wed and he said i was almost 2cm and that if my cervix thins out by next wed then when i turn 39 weeks which will be that friday he can induce...

But is there another way b/c i want him to come natural

I mean does walking help?

I mean ive been walking and it eases the pain but does it help start labor?

Or does he just come when he wants?

And if they induce labor wut do they do?

And does the mean a c-section?

B/c my mom was induced both times and had to have a c-section so does that mean i will have to have one to.

I man i know all these questions maybe silly but like i said its my first and i dont know wut to expect or wuts gonna happen?

So if you have any advice please help.

  1. a c section is when they cut open your uterus and take out the baby, no labor, quick and painless, cause your doped up on paint meds.

  2. wow, you are almost there. the baby will come out when it's ready unless the doctor say it is hazardous for youand your baby to prolong your pregnancy. but based on the info you have given, you are almost there. although breaking the mucus plug is not a guarantee that it's coming soon, some broke their mucus plug a month before they were in labor, some, like me, broke it 3days before i was in labor. walking could help, but not just walking, a loooooooooooooot of walking...take care..so excited for you..

  3. yes sweetie your nearly there good luck!

  4. There is really no way to know when you will go into labor.  You can be 2 cm dilated for a month, or you could go from 0 to 10 in an hour.  I have heard that when your mucus plug breaks that labor is usually within a few days of that, but it could also be weeks.  so there is really no answer for that.

when i was induced, they inserted a tablet inside of me that caused me to start labor, and then put me on a drip which caused the contractions to speed up.  I wouldn't recommend induction.  It was painful and my labor still lasted for over 30 hours.  for my next, i will definitely wait and go into labor naturally, even if that means going 2 weeks over!

  5. The braxton hicks are just a way for your body to "practice up" for the real thing and do not mean the baby is coming soon.

Walking does help, but don't tire yourself to the point that it becomes counter productive.

I was induced with my 2nd child and it was wonderful.  I slept all night, went to the doctor the next morning I was dilated to the point he wanted.  Went to the hospital, they put an iv in and started a patosin drip (I probably spelled that wrong).  You do not have to have a c-section, I had an epidural, which I highly recommend.  It does not clog your mind, but dulls all pain below the waist.  They speed up the drip according to how you are doing.

If you are built a lot like your mom, it is possible that your hips or pelvis might not spread, but more than likely you will be fine.

With my first child, I thought I had to do the "all natural" things.  Boy was I stupid.  I was in miserable pain and by the time the baby came, I wasn't any good to anyone.  I just wanted to be left alone; with the second baby, I felt like a movie star!!  Not being in pain for 12 hours - makes a big difference.

    Best of luck to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. To induce your labor they will put something right under ur uterus with a string and that should start your contractions and dilation to begin. They pop your waterbag before or after, I forgot. Shouldn't take that long.

  7. you shouldnt need a c-section unless there is a problem with the baby... i.e. he/she is in breech, something like that.

I tried walking, eating spicy food, having lots of s*x, all that but nothing worked, my daughter was still 4 days late. If you are already dialated you could probably go on your own in the next couple days, hopefully you wont have to worry about being induced (because i've heard its more painful with the pitocin and it takes longer) so if you can hold out until 40 weeks maybe to be induced it might be better on you.
