I live in nj and used to live in one city with my mother. Over the summer i moved with my father about a hour away on the bus still in nj. Since they are divorced in order for me to live with him they need to go to court and what not which is august 15th. Do you think ill still be able to go to my old high school or will local truant officers look for me? Please dont respond saying i should just switch schools i already decided what i want to do.

  1. Since your parents live in different school districts. You may go to school in either district. You do not have worry about the truant officers. The best of luck to you.

  2. no i think you should be able to stay

but im british so im not entirely sure of the laws etc in the u.s

    good luck

  3. It will depend on your school system and who has legal custody of you.  In my state the student must go to school near the parent who has the majority of the custody.  One of my students was going to the school I taught at, but tried to live with mom in another town.  The school system contacted the parents and had to set things straight.  Your parents need to look into this for you, sooner, rather than later.

    Good luck.
