  1. Class of 2010

No why would you? Are you not suppose to bring parents or something? I didn't have a 9th grade orientation, but for my 10th and 11th grade pre-registration day I went with my mom... didn't feel like a loser nor did people look at me like I was. The majority of the stuents there was with their parents.

  2. I'm going to an orientation in two days and I plan to take a guardian with me. Since my dad can't go if it's in the evening, then I'll have to go with my mom or someone else. I think that you shouldn't care what other people think about you going with your mom, because everyone has their own opinions and if you want to change for them, then I don't think it's not worth it. Being yourself is more important even if you do get embarrassed.

  3. No, because most of the other kids that go to orientation also take their parents with them. The kids that won't be seen with their parents are the kind of people that don't go to orientations.

  4. for my school, almost all of the freshman have

a parent with them for orientation.

other than that though, most students don't

    have parents with them.

  5. To some people it might, but I don't think it would. Just make sure to try to venture away from your mom eventually, and talk to some new people.

  6. Well I wouldn't care if I saw a kid w/ their mom at orientation.  But I'm very laid back and don't really care to judge people.  Some people, however, I do think have the ability to be mean about something like that.  If you have the guts to ignore them and move on w/out being affected, then good for you.  If it's really worrying you then just take the step alone and see how it goes.  Either way, whether your mom goes or doesn't, you're going to feel awkward b/c in the 1st situation you'll be wondering if people are making fun of you and in the 2nd situation you'll be wishing you had your mom there to help you.

A lot of schools won't allow parents to attend orientation.  Make sure you check w/ the school and see if this is the case.

  7. Not, why should you be embarrased by your mom.  Besides who cares what other people think, anyway!

  8. Certainly not.  What happens is your mom will become familiar with that school's rules, etc.  Your better schools encourage parent participation, and certainly this is a good way to start.  Parents are a key component to quality education.  --- Toni D.
