Will i make a good purchase if i buy...?

2 12'' kicker cvr 400RMS @ 2 ohms and a hifonics txi 700 RMS @ 2 ohms. how will that sound? will it last?

  1. well you picked nice subs and you did the right thing on matching the ohm but the amp you chose will send a lot of distortion to your subs and will make them die faster. chosing a higher quality amp with the same specs will solve that

  2. yes thats a good choice...i would preferribally go with a amp with 800 rms to push those subs cause kicker is pretty good about there specs.....just make sure when u wire those subs u wire them at 2 ohms and not at a half an ohm.....wire those subs   at series/parallel and u will get 2 ohms

  3. well here's the problem: if each sub is at 2 ohms and the amp is only 2 ohm mono stable, then you are forced to series the subs to raise the impedance to 4 ohms. This cuts the power from the amp in half (approximately), so really you will get out 350W RMS to two subs, which will be 175W per sub. This means the subs will be underpowered by a factor or 2, so it really isn't a good setup. For an amp that is only capable of running 2 ohm MONO, you need two 4 ohm subs to get all of the power out of it.
