Will i need a passport after Jan. 1 to cross the border by car?

I have heard that they havent set the date for land crossing......true?

  1. no they realized that they are behind on passports it has been extended indefinately


  2. According to the Department of Homeland Security:

    As early as January 31, 2008, U.S. citizens traveling between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda by LAND or sea (including ferries), could be required to present a valid U.S. passport or other documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security in a forthcoming separate rule.

  3. i thought u needed a passport to go anywhere outside the u.s. and if u didn't have that then u'd need ur birth certificate
