I am in university studying a bachelor of applied science.

In math i have done...basic number facts, natural numbers, integers, rational numbers, real numbers and their operations; basic algebra. and some calculus.

I am great at all biology, chemistry and psych subjects. I am fine with the math needed to do in chemistry and physics. But if i do any math beyond the math i have studied so far i am terrible at it. No matter if i get tutored, or study a lot...it still doesn't stick. I am in no way a math orientated person. I want to become a surgeon eventually. I have 3 years left of my degree and it is no way compulsory for me to do math subjects, and they are not prerequisites for GAMSAT for entry into MED SCHOOL. I am in australia. I want to know if anyone has, not done maths higher than my level and still been able to get into MED school and become a doctor. I know i need math to give patients the right dosage of medication and i am fine with that. PLEASE ANSWER i am worried.

  1. It is not necessary to study maths more than high school to become a doctor but if u study maths of higher level it will help u in studying Physics and in solving numerical problems in Physics &Chemistry.

  2. it will depend on where you get your undergraduate degree. You only have to satisfy the undergraduate's requirements. Medical school is very light in math. the hardest is statistics which uses a little algebra at most.
