Will i need to buy a new TV in 2009, for the digital switch??

I have a 36" Zenith TV with analog broadcast.

What am i suppsed to do with it in February 2009? I'm assuming it won't work, but i dont want to end up throwing it away.

  1. No just a special converter box to make it digital and at some websites you can find coupons to get them


  2. if you have digital cable or satellite  your TV will still work or you have to buy the converter box at your local store like wamart or radio shack

  3. Get SKY or buy a Free-view box. They will translate the digital signals to analogue.

    No you do not need to buy a new TV.

    The "digital switch" is only for over the air broadcasts. To keep using your old TV with an antenna, you would need to spend about $20 (after using a government coupon) for a converter box. Most areas already have digital broadcasts.  2/17/09 is the date when most of the old analog broadcasts are shut down.

    Cable & satellite TV are not effected by this "digital switch".  Many cable companies are planing their own analog shutdown. When and if this happens to you; you would need to use a cable box to keep watching cable TV.
