  1. I doubt if you will gain any weight unless you stay seated all the time.  Enjoy your trip.  We will be back there in 7 days, yeah.  Cheers c

  2. Just enjoy yourself and worry about it when you get home.  Have a great time in your parents' home country!

  3. weight and std...

  4. Odds are that you will loose weight. Every time I go to Vietnam I loose about 20 lbs by the time I leave. The food has a lot less fat and you will do a lot more exercise than you will realize by just getting around.

I didn't realize how jacked up the food is in the U.S. until you go to Asia. I eat like a pig when I'm in Vietnam, but I always loose weight. I can also feel my system getting cleaned out of all the preservatives and crud from my American diet.

The stairs in my house in Saigon are way steep compared to the U.S. I must easily do over 200 stair steps every day by just walking to the bedroom and back to the living room. The next time I go, I'm going to Rick M's farm and help him plow some fields to loose even more weight.

My advice; don't worry about your weight. Just go there and have fun.

  5. It depends if you don't watch what you eat.  You reap what you sow, so you sow what you eat. Sweating does little with losing weight so it's all about caloric intake.  Avoid rice and other fatty Vietnamese dishes. Although Vietnamese food rocks!!!

  6. YOu are used to junk food, so you will no doubt be tempted by it in Viet Nam, just as you are at home. Eat it and fat you will get. There are a surprising number of fat Vietnamese in Ha Noi. It isn't as bad as the US, but it is obvious, and bad!

  7. I visited south east asia for three months, and lost about 20 lbs. Dysentery accounted for some of that. You know, you don't automatically gain weight for crossing borders. If you go to vietnam and eat tons without excercise, then you will potentially gain weight, but, uh....just crossing the border you won't. You knew that though, right?
