I turned 16 in April and before the school year was over i picked drivers ed for one of my classes. I was planning on getting my permit during the summer, before the school year, but i didn't get the chance to i was to busy and i procrastinated. So i start school next week, and i don't have anyone to take me to DMV to take my permit test before school starts. I haven't even studied for it. So i was wondering could i still stay in the class for the first week even though i don't have my permit yet. I'm planning to take it during that week.

  1. Go to the class at school.  In the class, they teach you about driving.  There are all sorts of rules you have to learn, and those rules and regulations are what they teach in the class.  After you have taken the class, go take the written test to get your permit.

    Here's how it goes:

    1.  Take drivers ed class at school.  Learn all about driving in the class.  Memorize rules and regulations they teach you.

    2.  Go take permit test.  Pass test, get permit.

    3.  Schedule behind-the-wheel driving with driving instructor.  Complete required amount of hours (about 8 or so) of behind the wheel driving with the instructor.

    4.  Complete 50 hours (or whatever your state requires) of driving with an adult in the car.  This part will take months.  That's ok.

    5.  When you have completed the 50 hours, go take your test to get a drivers license.

I don't know why they make it so confusing.  It's so hard to figure out what to do when.  Good Luck!
