  1. I think you should be fine.  12 credits is technically full time and you're not on academic probation are you?  Either way, that should have pulled you out of your slump. Best of luck.

PS - people, don't give a dumbass answer like bobby. wow.

  2. you have to complete 24 hrs a year to be eligible so if you completed 7 hrs in the fall and 12 in the spring then you have to complete 5hrs this summer to get aid in the fall 08 and maintain 2.0

  3. I don't believe that FAFSA qualifications depend on your GPA. It's all about income.

  4. i dont know

  5. It's my understanding from the FAFSA website that you're eligible as long as you have 12 or more credit hours each semester. Dropping below the 12 credit hours would probably be the reason you're on the probation. Because your application probably stated you were full time and when you went below the 12 it meant you were part time. You won't get student aid for full time status if you're in a part time status.

Basically what I'm saying is this: If you applied for student aid and your application stated you were going to be a full time student then you would NOT get the amount of aid for a full time student if you dropped to a part time student and your GPA wasn't at FAFSA standards.

  6. That all depends on the type of aid you are receiving.  usually, grants and scholarships require you to maintain an acceptable GPA.  A B-average is usually sufficient.  You will still be eligible for other types of aid, such as federal student loans, regardless of your GPA.  However, these will need to be repaid when you finish school.  I hope this helps.

  7. if you were paid to attend FULL time by finanicial aid in the fall (and then dropped 5) to make you below full time you are REQUIRED to make up the difference in the spring to bring up the total number of hours for that semeter you were paid for but didn't attend.  It sounds like this is why you were put on probation, not because of your grades.  If so, your grades are NOT what they are looking at to get you off fin aid probation.

    Example:

For fall, you enrolled in 12 hours but dropped 5 to make you 7 total hours.  Financial aid was dispersed to the school for you as a FULL TIME student-which you aren't any longer.  So, you were put on probation..... with the stipulation you had 1 semster (spring) to MAKE UP those 5 hours you dropped.

Meaning you would have to attend full time in the spring PLUS 5 more hours...12+5=17 total credit hours to get you off probation.  If you are not enrolled and passing at least 17 hours in this situation you will not get off probation because of dropping all those credits.  Your situation may be different... this is just an example.... your school could have dispersed fin aid to you enrolled as a HALF time student (for example) to make up for you only enrolled in 12 hours.  Call them to be sure you meet reqirements for fin aid.

  8. Maybe

  9. hello, you should be elegible for fasfa. last year i was put on probation, because i went into labor on the day of my finals and failed one of my classes. it didnt affect my fasfa at all, i was just required to keep a B average or higher. that following semester my brother in law died and i had to go out of town. this caused me to miss alot of class and i ended up getting an F in math. i lost my fafsa, but they sent me a letter in the mail to appeal the desicion. i explained the situation and they gave me back all of my aid but i had to be put back on probation and have a B average or higher again. you need to find out if they require you to have a certain average in your classes and what grade is required while being on probation. if something happenes, like it did me, they are very understanding and will work with you. as long as your trying to get an education and help yourself succeed, they usually will not turn you away from any aid. unless you decided to just party everynite and sleep in instead of going to class. thats a different story. so it really depends on your situation, and why you were put on probation in the first place. if there were personal problems that caused u to drop 5 credits, or u felt it was just to much of a load to take on and u needed less classes to make it easier on u, they should understand. just contact your financial aid office at your school. they will go the extra mile in answering your question. hope this helps

p.s. u dont need to have 12 contact hours to recieve financial aid. i only go part time (6 or 7 credits) each semester and i still recieve all aid, grants, and loans
