Will iPhone work in Russia if I buy in an AT&T store?

  1. Yes, it will!  You must unlock your phone first (I used SimFree).  I use MegaFon in Russia and all features (except for visual voicemail) worked like a charm in both Moscow and in the NW region. The biggest pain is remembering to bring a paperclip to swap out the SIM.


  2. Not at the moment. There is no Russian carrier that can activate the service at this time. Only the phone features will work (no voicemail, the video/music downloads from the store, etc will not work).

    You will also have to get the phone unlocked, to insert a foreign sim card in it and have it work. AT&T will not unlock it until you have service for 90 days minimum, and if you use a service to unlock it, it will void your warranty.
