Question:

Will insufficient funds assessed by credit card (returned check fee) hurt my credit score?

I have a citicard and they tried a couple times to get my payment withdrawn from my checking account. It was successful the second time, which was in time for the payment being due, but I was assessed with a returned check fee (insufficient funds) but no late fee, since it was still paid on time. Does such a fee (insufficient funds) affect your FICO score/credit report? -- even if it was paid on time with no late fees? (I called citibank and they were VERY unhelpful and didn't know the answer to my question). Any help please?

  1. not if it doesn't happen often...and if they put it on your report ask to have it removed....they have to remove it when you ask.

  2. Your story is way to confusing. So you wrote a check that ws returned due to insufficient funds or you deposited a check that was returned for insufficient funds?

If your check was bad it will hurt your credit score. If it is your first then it will not hurt by much if at all. If it is a bunch then yes it will start taking a toll.

If it was someone elses into your account then no it will not hurt your score.

  3. nope it will not show up!!!
