1 has had whiskers for about 4-5 years, 2 have had it for the past year and 2 have had it for a few months.

Will it affect them if i change it as i cannot afford Whiskers what with the recession in the UK right now.

What is a good brand that is cheaper? I need a pack of 12 tins per week and biscuits too.

Also the kittens are now 3-4 months old, they keep biting everything, are they teething and what can i do?

  1. Some cats experience digestive upsets (in other words, pukin' or poopin') if their diets are changed suddenly.  The way to avoid this is to make the change as slowly as possible, by offering just a small amount of new food in addition to a decreased amount of the old food.  Over a period of two weeks or so, you gradually increase the old and decrease the new.

If your cats appear to be doing well on Whiskas, then chances are good that they'll continue on as they have been on a different food.  If they had sensitive systems then they'd be showing signs of that while eating the Whiskas.

I can't help you with brands since I'm in the US.

And I'm not sure about teething.....kittenhood passed so quickly I hardly noticed.

  2. My strong point is not pet food.  As some people on here know...  But I am learning to change my thinking.  Therefore, I will only say this because I will stand by it no matter what.  Whatever you choose, do it slowly.  Gradually mix in and switch over slowly  as long as you can.  Otherwise you will run the chance of upsetting their stomachs and intestinal tract.  That could cost you much more in the long run :(

    Good luck.

Oh, as for the teething kittens - just cover your toes  lol !!!    They will be done soon enough.  Do not encourage them and offer cat toys - even a large balled up sock will work.

  3. If you look at the ingredients in a tin of whiskas, you'll find that they are exactly the same as the supermarket own brand tins of cat food.  Dont change the brand suddenly though - some cats have sensitive stomachs that don't like change.

You could try these, but I'd recommend getting a good quality dried food to go alongside it if you use cheap tinned cat food.  If you buy the biscuits in larger bags, it works out cheaper.

  4. Whiskers is prolly the cheapest you can get. It should not affect them if it is a slow change over. As with dry food... change them into a new kind by adding lil more lil more lil more till soon itis mostly the new oneand then take the old one out totally.

As far as teething... Idontknow what to say, never had a chewing kitty!

  5. Whiskers is garbage food - and you want to give them something cheaper?  Why do you have so many cats if you can't afford to feed them?  The best option for them may be to be rehomed to someone with the means to care for them.
