Will it be a big deal for Aussies if they are called Westerners?

    It isn't now so why would we find it a big deal in the future?


  2. While we see ourselves as a Western country, and therefore are considered Westerners, many Australian's would be a bit confused is you personally called them Westerners.  We see ourselves as Australian first.

  3. Not at all. Australia is considered a Western country in almost every common sense of the word.

    We think of ourselves as Westerners and the term is used in our media here fairly often, too. :)

  4. Australia IS a Western country, and has been since the day the English started shipping people out here.

    Why is that something that should be a big deal? It just is.

  5. Not at all. Australia has always been considered to be a western (or perhaps westernised) country in an eastern location.  

  6. Are we  supposed to be honoured to be called Westerners ?
