Will it be better if we were just democrat or republican not both?

The Democrats want to take away or seriously compromise the 2nd amendment. The Republicans want to take away or seriously compromise the 1st amendment. The Democrats have more intellectually effective problem solvers, while the Republicans, as a collective, have more executive experience. Both parties have their share of criminals and short-sighted opportunists. Both parties are manipulated by lobbyists.

Its the power struggle between the two parties that prevents our Bill of Rights from being compromised by either party. Having the presence of creativity on one side and experience on the other side helps guarantee that despite their differences the parties can produce solutions.

...as long as the contests do not become fixed. Which I am not convinced has not taken place in our presidential elections.

both groups buy congress with Lobbyists.  Until we free ourselves from corporate entities /lobbyists we aren't free.

I think fitting into one party is kind of stupid because you will always share different beliefs that are not shared by your party but another.

I mean you can be a democratic on some points and a republican on others.
