I'm almost 20, I had one at-fault car accident last yr (total wreck), I'm getting a used 2006 scion TC.. Will it be cheaper if I get my own insurance or if I'm under my aunt's insurance?

(The car is coming from NV because that's where she lives & she's my co-signer. I used to live there but I now have a CA driver license. Is it possible for me to be able to get an insurance under her name?)

  1. Yes it will be cheaper.

Im under my parents insurance and I own a Ford Diesel truck and only pay $50 a month on it and if I went out on my own to get insurance it would be $80. So yes being under your aunts insurance policy will greatly reduce your monthly payments, the only way it will not be to your advantage is if her driving record is very bad IE Wrecks, tickets...

  2. if the car is in your name then the insurance has to be in your name

  3. Try using http://My-InsuranceSearch.com to compare car insurance rates for all the major providers in your area.

  4. I don't think she can (legally) insure the car because you are under 25 and do not live in the same household.

  5. yes
