My Family and I would like to travel to Tequila jalisco. Would it be ok if we travel alone in our car??? It is kind of expensive to take a tour, plus we will be traveling fron Leon Guanajuato to Puerto Vallarta. And Tequila is right on our way there. All we need to know is if is ok to go down there with the family.

Any hints on what to do or where to eat?

We will only have 5 HOURS to be there at Tequila Town before we head back to Vallarta.

Thank you for all your help.

  1. You should have no problems at all.

I would recommend making arrangements for a tour of a Tequila manufacturer. I think you can just show up at Jose Cuervo and it's pretty interesting, but very modern and right in town. I recall there are ongoing scheduled tours.

We loved going to Herradura. Got lucky and arrived the same time a class was having a tour so we got to join the tour. They don't use all of their old equipment, but it is still there to see. Plus you can see all the steps of manufacturing. It's on a huge estate with a hacienda. I think they have scheduled tours, but you'll be best off trying to book a tour in advance.

  2. You're absolutely safe travelling by car, if you can make the tequila trial, do it, it's an awesome experience. More info on the link below. Good luck!

  3. There are some interesting tours of old distilleries and current ones. I don't know how interesting it would be for kids, but it is very interesting if you like seeing how manufacturing processes have changed over time. The roads are decent and the countryside is pretty.

  4. purchase a good MEXICO travel book. you will be able to plan your trip completely, from places to eat, to accommodations, to travel routes.. A good book will tell you about weather, include maps (fodor's is good),  give driving advice, and so much more. You will never get that kind of info here, and with a book you will have it on the road to refer to as you travel from one place to another. I have such a book and I usually copy the information for only the areas I am visiting, with this I add some Spanish vocabulary, creating my own little booklet without  the unnecessary pages.
