Will it be safe to go from Rome's airport to the center of the city by train, carrying our luggage?

We would like to avoid the taxis and make our trip less expensive. However we have heard about pickpockets....

there are thieves like everywhere just be carefully keep money and passport in a safe place don't carry a handbag in one hand and never wear gold in Rome even in day time like neckless or expensive watch.

It's safe, don't worry. Just don't stand out as a forgeiner, i.e. don't talk loudly, don't wear bright colors, don't wear graphic tee-shirts, etc.

if you are american do not wear anything that represents usa. europeans don't really like americans. they do however like canadians much better. probably cuz they have more manners and are not as loud and obnoxious as most americans ;)

The express train is VERY safe and comfortable. It has no stops and is fast. Just be careful that nobody gets too close to your pockets when in line buying tickets or when you get into/out of the train at the final station. Never keep your wallet in the back pocket of your trousers, but this applies to ANY city on earth!!! Pickpocketing is not a problem in Rome except on public buses and underground. Be careful if you see young Gipsy girls around, they will try to distract you and snatch just anything. Do not talk too loud like many Americans do, Italians find it very rude, older Italians that is... I have been in many Countries and Italy is really safe if you just act sensibly. Have fun!

Generally not a problem, same advice here, just keep your eyes open for any suspicious people, including children!Carry your passport and creditcards/cash in a little purse on your stomach,or under your tshirt.  Dont get distracted by needy people.  Rome is a wonderful city, you will have the best time of your life here, go to www.romebuddy.com for great info on all the questions you might have!!  Buon viage!
