Will it benefit my child applying for college that I am SS 100% disabled, his birth father gets a military 40% disability & my husband (his stepfather) is retired. (although he still works.) I was hoping my disability would be an advantage when applying for financial aid, but the FAFSA and other resources only address disability in the student.

Also, the forms ask for a figure for child support. My son's father is hugely in arrears, and an occasional check comes in. Do I give the theoretical amount, or just what I actually receive?

(almost nothing.)

My first question about the disability is the most important, so I encourage anyone familiar with that situation to enlighten me.

  1. It will not matter that you are disabled or not. It is only for your income. It goes on your taxes. As for the amount of child support. Only report what is actually received that year.
