  1. I think so. Hes never been stopped or knocked out yet and Roy Jones has not performed like he used to do for years, so Joe will win the fight IMO.

  2. Who the heck is Joe Calzaghe? Did he fought the best in his division in their prime?

  3. you mean the old legend killer....haha.NO roy jones jr is going to have his @$$.besides he is to scared to fight pavlik.I would almost guarantee he will lose to roy jones jr.i watched roys last fight and he is still really good.

  4. According to Joe If he clearly defeats Roy Jones Jr he is retiring. He said himself he wants to retire undefeated.

Calzaghe in my opinion has still not answered the questions of how good he is, out pointing and old Hopkins which Taylor already did twice is not convincing enough for me, especially when he got knocked down by Hopkins who is by no means known as a big puncher.

Now If he can throw enough punches to impress the judges to give him a points victory over a Jones who has not been even 50% of the RJ of old , that to me does not say too much either. Id be more impressed if he beat a guy Like Chad Dawson or Pavlik. (Much more impressed if he beat Pavlik)

I'm with Woody in saying that if the Jones from the third Tarver fight even though he lost , shows up against Calzaghe, Joe might be in for a big disappointment. If Hopkins could knock him down I see no reason why a 60% Jones couldn't do it.

RJ was so great that he does not have to be 100%,  anywhere from 55% to 60% is still more talent then any of the other guys i see in that landscape.

So for me It depends on Jones, I don't care  how hard Calzaghe trains or how good he looks, Ill be looking to see how good Jones looks because that is what will decide this fight. If Jones can come in feeling good, fast and in great shape with an HONEST will to win, even if he can only muster 60% I see him winning this fight and Calzaghe will taste his first defeat.

Jones is no Hopkins even this advanced in his career Jones moves better and is quicker then Hopkins and probably still has more pop in his punch.

Hey Woody, whats your opinion on the 3rd Tarver-Jones fight? I know he said he basically threw the fight because he did not want his father to get credit for helping him prepare. Do you honestly think that was it? Because it looked to me in that fight, when Jones wanted to or tried he made Tarver look like an amateur sparring partner. It looked to me that Jones could have won that fight easily....I just dont believe he would throw a fight against Tarver... was he just scared? I cant think its tired because he did it in rounds late in the fight. It was almost like his outing against Johnson when he would mostly lie on the ropes, but when he unleashed on Johnson, Johnson had no chance. That third Tarver fight still bugs me because I always ask WHY?

  5. I think he will do and retire undefeated..

I 1st saw him when Eubank  stepped in as a late replacement  with just a week till  fight night.. Joe won A CLOSE fight but Eubanks was on  a there a 3 fight losing streak buy now that went to 5 fights but was not the boxer he once was.

So its 96 or 97 now he had to fight Robin Reed and this was close i think Reed won this one but Joe won Rematch by a few rounds.

So what i don't like is how it took 10 years for him to fight for some other boxer for there title. And they call Floyd that's funny !!!......

10 Years later he fights Jeff Lacy and won so this was the 1st title he took off a well a real champion as his was vacant when he beat Eubanks. then some contenders  Manfredo jr and the other one.

then the only real fight was Kessler but he is never going to be a legend and Hopkins at 43. ive never seen the man in a 50-50 fight or thought he will lose...

how come there no big names

    Taylor

    Hopkins 36 year old

    Jones

    Traver

    Johnson

    Wight

    Woods

    Froch

Why are  these names on his record?  Why was these fight not a few years ago..

Why fight Jones now he is 39... Hopkins was 43...

    .........................................

Look  I'm from the UK but fan look and see he has never lost and go as far as to to say he is the best UK fighter ever...wait  for this even to put gloves on how can they say that..

he never beat a GREAT fight he beat OLD GREAT fighters that's

    the facts.

Ricky Hatton is not the best but he will go and have a go and fight the best he got knocked out but i will love him for that he went looking for the best all the time but Joe never did and he may be the better boxer than Hatton  but that's what a  real  champion  and what they should do.  the real boxing fans know this.. you have a go even if you get beat or knocked out is 100 times better than not trying.

But its still not easy to stay Undefeated so give him that much...

i respect Taylor more than Joe as he will fight anyone any place.not duck them as he not got a heart as big as them..

  6. I don't care what the h**l Joe Calzaghe does.

  7. if he takes on a power puncher that has some quickness he'll probably lose cause he doesnt have the power to scare them off i'll like to se him fight jermaine taylor

  8. It really depends on Calzaghe's ending career move. If Roy Jones could at least bring the same energy he did against Tarver in the their third meeting (without the showboating), then it's possible that Calzaghe could see his first defeat. Also, does Calzaghe plan on making Jones his final fight? If so, then it's very possible to go undefeated if he should get by Jones. Does Calzaghe plan on doing one or two more fights, after Jones assuming he beats him, then the big next will be what path does Calzaghe take? If Calzaghe takes the path of fighting more aging and slower fighters, then perhaps he will go undefeated. If Calzaghe wants to try his luck against younger talent, like Dawson or Pavlik, then there is possibility for an upset.

It just basically depends on Calzaghe decision on what he does, if he gets by Jones.

  9. It's possible of course even though I think that Kelly Pavlik would beat him if they met.
