If a person is convicted of a felony (innocent or not), will their life ever be normal again? Will they be able to work and support their family? Will they ever be able to show their face in the neighborhood again? In their child's school?

P.S. I am not talking about Murder or Criminal Sexual Assualts. I'm talking a basic, not violent, no actual "victim" felony.

  1. it depends. if you kill someone accident or not. no A traffic violation. Yes Everyone makes mistakes.

  2. No..

  3. no i don't think so

  4. it depends if other people will look at you normally agian. i mean some people that have a bad memory out of it they might not be normal to you again but if they're forgiving type i think they will

  5. Yes, my uncle went to jail for 10yrs. and when he got out my aunt helped him get a job as a sanitation operator he moved an hr. away from where he got in trouble went to church met a really nice lady they moved in together and they've been doing great for the past ten years now.  When you've done your time for your crime you can't worry about what other ppl think his church knows all about what happened so does his wife's family and friends, he messed up once and got his life together the shame comes in when you mess up 2 and 3 times then ppl turn their backs on you.

  6. yes people still hire felons it is your just not going to gt all of the opportunities you would have with out the felony

  7. If you were convicted of a felony that is going to always be on your record. Regardless what kind of felony most companies ask that very question on applications. Have you ever been convicted of a felony.

    It doesnt mean its the end of the world. But you are going to have to work hard to rebuild your reputation, to prove to people that yes you did make a mistake but you are wanting to turn it around and be a productive member of society again.

  8. Absolutely...  In some cases Convicted felons actually have opportunities and advantages in employment.  There are many Federal Programs that like OJT and TJTC that would be a benefit for hiring ex-felons.

    TJTC: Targeted Job Tax Credit is a Federal Program that will give an employer $6000 a year as a tax break for each convicted felon hired;

    US Department of Labor has apprenticeship programs to assist ExFelons in obtaining training in field such as Electrician, Carpenter, Baker, Chef, Bricklayer, etc.

    Everyone thinks that the world is getting worse with the number of criminals increasing.  I don't believe that is REALLY the truth.  There is an increase in crime for 2 reasons, 1) The population is bigger than it was, and 2) There are more laws restricting more acts.  Things that were once legal are now not, and vice versa.

    Anyhow,  Many people who have been convicted of crimes are working in great jobs from Corporation Presidents to Business owners.  There are only a few exceptions.  "THIRD PARTY RISK"  - if you robbed a bank, committed bank fraud, or illegally used a credit card, DO NOT expect to work for a bank;  If you were convicted of Murder or Sexual Assault - do not expect to work at a school, or hotel where you would have direct access to a guest room (ie. Room Service).

    Just be honest about it, and upfront.
