  1. I think as long as it was considered natural death(not suicide or car wreck related to the alcohol) you should be good.

  2. Poor people who drink a lot and have little money are called 'chronic alcoholics'.

Rich people who drink 3 or 4 times what 'chronic alcoholics' drink are called either 'Jolly Good Chaps' or 'the Late Lord Spencer' or both.  Either way they don't need life assurance.

Sorry if my answer seems a bit flippant

    Cheers

    Roger

  3. Well, did he disclose it on the application?  Is the policy past the contestable period?  Those are two crucial questions that have to be answered, before you can get an answer to YOUR question.

  4. there are 6 kind of insurance.

  5. Read your policy. No one here knows what your policy says. Most life insurance policies can't be contested after 2 years. If the policy was in force less than two years and the insured lied on the application and said he is not alcoholic and was alcoholic at the time, the company does not have to pay. Really, it is impossible to know the answer without all of the personal circumstances and a copy of the policy and application. Just put the claim through and see what happens. Talk to your agent. If the policy was in force for  years, it will pay. Everyone dies eventually, and life insurance is designed to pay when you die, so long as you pay the premiums. Don't worry so much. Everything will be OK.

  6. If the policy is within the first two years from the date of issue, and he had been treated for alcoholism but failed to mention it on the application, it can be contested and the claim denied.

If death occurred after the two-year contestable period, the policy will pay the death benefit.

  7. Shouldn't matter unless it's the first two years the insured had the policy.

  8. How old is the policy?  If it is over two years old they have to pay.  Except for war and suicide a company cannot discriminate due to reason for death once the two years is up.

  9. You have to look at the policy and the clauses.  Some give certain years after being diagnosed with alcoholism and others don't allow it at all.

  10. Hi, you would need to carefully go through the policy pack wordings for more clarifications.

Generally, if the policy was a Group Insurance and policy in-force for more than a year, the company would pay. Rules are more liberal in Group policy.

However, in case of individual policy, there are certain exclusions which would be mentioned - check the fine-print. Mostly Pre-existing ailments, Suicides etc are not covered, have not come across a case where alcohol related deaths are not covered, it should not be categorized as a willful action (similar to suicide)...

Again suggest have a relook at the policy pack.
