  1. I have already seen two questions regarding this issue...if you would but spend half the time and effort that you are spending, communicating with the person who owned the bridle, all would be better served. Why are you on here instead of speaking to the owner of the bridle?  he should have been the first one notified...I just don't get it.  be honest with people, it really isn't that hard to do.

  2. Clean it up right away with a glycerin based saddle soap, like leather new. It should be fine.

If it dried too fast it might crack, but in general that does not happen.

  3. Ut oh...  See that's why my horsekid bought all nylon bridles for her kids to use!  (Yes, I too read and responded to the earlier post.).

Well get it all taken apart.  Clean thoroughly with glycerin, work it all in then towel off any access and then lightly oil the pieces.  Once again, towel off any access, put the bridle back together and hand to your trainer with a REALLY sad look on your face and an honest apology.

  4. Other people have said to clean it right away.  Depending on how wet it got, soap may dry it out more.  If the bridle was really dirty to began with you may have to clean it, but be sparing on the soap.  What you need to do is oil it.  Stright oil will work the best, like neats hoof oil.  Leather coditioners will do ok, but not as good as oil.  saturate the leather in the oil. Let the oil sit on the leather for a little while, then use a rag to remove any excess oil.

At a show once i got caught in a down pour druing a class andmy saddle and show bride got poured on and i did what i said above and both are fine now.

  5. You should clean it. And tell your instructor about it. (Yeah, I read the other one.) Your instructor may be a bit upset, but talk to him about it. Ask him if he would like you to replace that bridle if it was damaged. If it's not very bad, ask about how to fix the damage that was done.

  6. No it's fine. Clean it A.S.A.P. with glycerin based soap and then oil it a couple days later to prevent cracking from the wetness hardening. Try to not use it again before you oil it, that way you hold off possible cracking or wrinkles. Tell the owner of the bridle too obviously, preferably before you do anything about it in case they don't want certain products used on it because of the brand, I know i'm like that with my Hadfield bridle, I hate oiling it with certain oils because it darkens it too much.

Good luck :) Hope you get everything worked out okay.

  7. Yeeeeeeeesss
