I heard Johnny Benson talking about this issue on Nascar Now or Nascar week on ESPN. This may effect the better running cars in a negitive way! Please read this link!

  1. The rule change does not take effect until next week besides for a rear gear change. Next week is when the cars that ran up front all year will start to struggle and the teams that worked with what will be legal like Greg Biffle's team especially, will start to exel. Look for Biffle to win many races this year with the new rule change.

  2. It would probably only affect the few teams that have made it work for them. I wish Nascar would knock it off with all their dumb suspension rules. It's pretty ridiculous. Every time someone finds something that works for them, Nascar makes a rule against it. Give it a rest already.

  3. The issue needed to be addressed. If Darby was doing his job things would have never gotten off so far that someone like Hornish had such an advantage that he became competitive. Many complained not just Gordon but Darby stood by his 1/4 inch measurement of how far the rear end assembly could be c0cked in the chassis. Edwards and others were bending the housings to turn the rear wheels farther to the right. If you remember a couple of years ago the teams did this to get more rear camber and it started causing broken axles so Nascar limited the bending to one degree. When teams started bending them over one degree to the right Darby should have stopped them but either he did not know what they were doing or favored those teams.

This had to be stopped or broken axles which can be very dangerous would have been common. With excessive bending the drive axle actually bends back and forth as it turns causing the axles to crystallize and break.

Now they will limit the rear axle housing bending to one degree plus the 1/4 inch movement in the chassis.

the ruling should have come earlier so the 600 could be included in it. this bending of the axle housing was a grey area that went against the spirit of the 1/4 inch axle movement rule and was more of a violation then someone reshaping a fender in a grey area. Darby has shown himself to be an idiot or favoring certain teams by the way he ridiculed those complaining about this.

  4. Definitely yes. Carl Edwards and Bob Osborne will have to work for it now.

  5. Yes, especially if the teams tested with more "yaw" than Nascar is going to allow. I seen that one coming.
