ovechkin had more points in the regular season than malkin did...112 for ovy and 106 for malkin. ovechkin and the caps lost to the flyers in the first round of the playoffs in 7 games. malkin is also the only player besides datsyuk to have more points combined(playoffs/regular season) than ovechkin.

  1. yes

  2. The awards are determined before the playoffs begin, so NOPE.

  3. I would say yes, because the votes count for the regualr season only...but he has been less than himself in these playoffs, particularly in the finals

  4. if the post season had any reflection on voting for the MVP

Malkins name would be removed from the list

he dropped out in the Flyers series and has not been back

hardly an MVP of the playoffs and Ovie has it for the regular season

  5. MVP has nothing to do with the playoffs. That stuff has already beed decided. If it did have anything to do with the playoffs, he wouldn't win it anyway because he has been pretty much invisible in the finals.

I love Malkin, but he needs to step his game up BIG time if the Pens stand a chance of winning. They looked very good last night but still need to work on a few things.

    LETS GO PENS

  6. The votes for MVP are already tallied. They ONLY count the regular season. So the playoffs have NO impact on it. That is why they have the Conn Smythe trophy for PLAYOFF MVP.

    This is from NHL.com:

"The Hart Memorial Trophy is an annual award given to the player judged to be the most valuable to his team. The winner is selected in a poll of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association in all NHL cities at the end of the REGULAR SEASON."
