  1. If Manny is traded, The Dodgers seem like a viable destination.  They would love to unload Andruw Jones with 1 year left on his contract after this year.  If the Dodgers were willing to part with Matt Kemp then the Sox would be able to get rid of Manny and probably a Dodger required minor league prospect.  Manny is one of the best hitters in the game and really can't be replaced 1 for 1.  But, Kemp would be a great pickup and the rest of this year and next year would give Andruw a chance to resurrect his career in Boston.  Being a Boston fan, I would hope Jones could turn his career around similar to Mike Lowell.  This would allow the Sox to get something back for Manny.

  2. He'll go to the Yankees fo sho!

  3. its basically a 1/1000000 chance he will be traded unless his contract expires if he even has a contract. if he does get traded, i want him to go to the mets for nick evans and aaron  heilman. idk which manny you're even talking about.

  4. Better for a team to wait for him to be a free agent if the Sox fail to pick up his option. I could see Cleveland making a play for him. I don't think he ever wanted to leave Cleveland but his agent influenced him after getting the teams into a heated bidding war.

  5. I know he's a"hitting machine"--but he's NOT MUCH OF A TEAM PLAYER".So to answer your question I'd ask you----"would YOU want him on YOUR team??

  6. [Update: 3:51pm] Theo Epstein spoke with Tim McCarver prior to today's game and said he would attempt to trade Ramirez if the slugger is willing to waive his no-trade clause.

Dan Shaughnessy says that Manny Ramirez' latest incident was the final straw for the Red Sox.

It was extraordinary. In the past, management and the manager would do handstands to excuse Manny's strange acts. No more. This time, the manager - apparently confident there's nothing wrong with the slugger - put Manny's name in the lineup, then sat and waited for Manny to pull himself out of the lineup. Manny complied. Never concerned with wins or losses, Manny told Brad Mills he was unable to play and took himself out of the batting order for the (thus far) biggest game of the season.

It was predictable. It was ridiculous. It was the last straw.

Ramírez had an MRI yesterday and it was clean. This time, the Sox plan to do something about this situation. Soon.

Shaughnessy did not speculate on whether the Sox would try to trade Ramirez, with whom the team has $20MM options in both '09 and '10, or if they would just let him walk after the season.

  7. It will be tough to trade him due to his right to veto any deals. The Sox will probably have to deal with him until his contract is over after this season, and pay him the 20$ million he will get when they don't pick up his option.
