Question:

Will mechanical engineering be good for me?

I like programming and science, watch Air crash investigation and like how things work or are made. I also enjoy designing 2D and 3D and have some art abilities.

Would I enjoy mechanical engineering?

Is it the right course for me?

Thanks

  1. it sounds like you should seriously consider it, but also check out other forms of engineering as well, maybe civil and such,

but you also should be fairly good @ and can tolerate math pretty well

if you absolutly loathe math, then maybe architecture would be something to look at o.o

    but idk much about architecture

  2. Mechanical Engineering focuses heavily on machine design and plant engineering designs and also their applications and derivatives ( in which you'll be required serious problem solving analysis) aside from dodging the collegiate mathematics and sciences subjects. You have to ask yourself if that's really what you want to engaged in after school. If you're affirmative, then go for it!

  3. Engineering requires a lot of math.  Math is the language of physics, so it is very important to engineering applications.  While abstract mathematics won't be so important, in your classes,  you will be constantly setting up and manipulating equations and numbers.  If you are capable of doing the math, then go for it!  Be aware that while some other majors will have college work that is as easy as highschool or easier, engineering majors will be required to do a relatively large amount of work, regardless of what school you go to.

Engineering is an excellent field to be in.  You will likely have good working conditions.  The average starting salary for a mechanical engineer is about $58,000 per year.

If you're up for the challenge, go for it!

  4. Sounds like it would be perfet for you.
