Will metal tend to sway [if dangled from lets say...a string] when dangled over a flame?

  1. The flame is quite hot, and is composed of burning gases. The released energy heats the surrounding air too. The result is that both the burned fuel and the heated air rise quickly through the surrounding air.

    That movement would cause any suspended object held above it to sway. With a metal object, you are only seeing the swaying, and no other phenomenon, whereas with most other things the object itself might melt or burn, and that would create its own dynamic, and its own movement.


  2. sway if you mean ossilate, then yes it would but not too much...
