  1. Yes, mold can give you headaches and make you very sick.  Do not try to clean it yourself.  If you disturb some types of mold, they give off toxins, which, if inhaled will kill you.  Call a professional and bill it to the apartment manager.  Document everything and call the health department.

  2. you have to bleach all of the areas with mildew/mold.  if its in your a/c unit you can put a little cup of bleach in there.  but seriously if the apartment manager doesn't take care of it.  Call the Department of Health immediately and they could force your apartment manager to get it done.  Its very serious!  Your headaches are probably the result of the mold/mildew.  You can get other serious health problems too.  So something needs to be done ASAP

  3. Yes it will give you head aches and cold like symptoms. Usually it is caused by water leaks. I would move your baby into a room that has no signs of mildew. Until the matter is resolved

  4. Ok, you and me are like twins or something. My mold problem was just discovered two days ago. I notified my landlord and he "took care of it" too. He sprayed it with Tilex and installed a dehumidifier. The problem is in the basement. I went down there and took paper towels, sprayed them with a mix of a 3 to 1 ratio of water to bleach and physically removed the mold spores. You have to be very careful to wear a mask while doing this, move your baby to a closed room where she cannot breathe in the spores. Mold is very bad for your health. I told my landlord the main concern of mine is my health. It nearly ruined all of my belongings down there. At least I got rid of a lot of clutter!

Keep on the manger's @ss about it. Have him install a dehumidifier. They're about $150 and he should buy one since it's his property. I got my landlord to buy me one, so try to do the same. Have it run until the humidity is at 50% or less. Above 60% humidity is when mold grows.

Also open your windows/ run fans to circulate air after a shower or cooking. Any moisture combined with poor circulation will increase your chances of mold. Inspect the place yourself and show the manager what you're seeing. Take pictures and give him little to no time to fix it or tell him you're reporting him to the health department and you're out of there!

Good luck, protect yourself and your baby.

  5. If it's where you can see it like the bathtub and tile, a 10% bleach and water solution will do it. Check the bathroom exhaust fan too. If you think it's in the walls or something, the landlord has to hire a professional to remove it. And you'll have to leave the apt. The only way the landlord MAY shoulder the expense is if you prove it's in the walls which means tearing out some. Then you report it to the Housing Dept in your area. Mold is no joke especially since you have a baby.

  6. Yes it can get you very sick. There is some sealer that you can buy it;s like paint and it says mold and mildew sealer, and there is also paint you have to paint over it,  it's made by zinnser and I used it and it helped the mold never came back
