Question:

Will momentary power losses damage my LCD TV?

The other day there was a thunder storm. During the storm my lights dimmed for two seconds and came back. A few minutes later they went completely out for a second or two and returned. My TV happened to be off.

I do have a very good Belkin Surge Protector on my TV. Will these types of brown outs and momentary losses damage my TV if it is turned on at the time?

  1. Not if you have a good enough surge protector.  Each surge protecter is rated to handle a certain amount of power during a power surge, and as far as I know it cannot damage you TV when it is off.  My suggestion is to get a better surge protector so you do not have to worry about it.
