Question:

Will more mollies curb my female's aggression?

I only have currently 3 mollies, one is pretty pregnant, and she is SO mean! She chases the other two away from the food, and nips them all day long. Bulling them around!

Do you think it would be benificial to add another molly her size? or another male? I have one male, two females. She has taken over being the dominate one in the tank, both other fish are much smaller than her(She came from petsmart, they came from walmart, sorry I dont have local breeders, hopefully I'll be the first!)

  1. After she has her fry, she will become less aggressive. She is protective of her fry right now. You might try getting 2-3 more females and maybe another large male to help curb her aggression. I`m sure she`ll be better after she has her fry.

  2. It could be beneficial to add another fish or 2, but when fish are spawning and caring for babies they can get rather aggressive. It will subside after she has the babies, but if you feel she is getting too aggressive, take her out and put her in a spare tank.

  3. If you have a big enough tank (and depending on the type of mollie) I would say get another male to balance things out, preferably her size.

Good luck in the breeding department!
