Will most professors pass students?

Isn't it true that if college students go to every class and show their professors that they are trying their best that most professors will pass their students with at least a 70, for core classes I mean?

  1. Depends on the professors really, but if you get on their good side then you do usually get some help.

  2. No.  That's high school.  College doesn't work that way.  'Trying your best' doesn't mean you learned the material, and that's what your grade will be based on.  No one wants a doctor or an engineer who 'tried their best' but never managed to pass bio 101 or physics 101.

  3. Not necessarily!  I had a professor fail me in Business Calc and I showed up every single day.  It really depends on the professor and how much effort you put into the class. Just because you are physically in class, doesn't mean you are "there."  And they know that.

  4. If the students actually showed they were trying--did all assignments on time, did all outside readings, came to office hours to seek help, joined study groups, etc.--most professors would probably at least give a D-, I think.  But if you're doing all of those things, you probably would earn a D- on your own merits without the professor "giving" you a passing grade.

  5. I don't think academic grades are based on participation, and oh yeah all teachers are different

  6. No.

What's the point if they do?

  7. that is up to each and every individual teacher. One may have that policy while the others dont. they have discreation when it comes to it

  8. Hahaha well that depends. If you are paying out of state tuition, they will most likely do what they can to fail you. They want your money. The college system is so screwed up.
