Question:

Will mother Robin move her babies?

Does anyone know if a mother Robin will move her nestlings from the nest if she feels they're in danger? We had a nest under our deck with 3 babies in it and we started to take our deck apart but didn't disturb the nest, but this morning the nest was on the ground and the babies are gone. Or was it foul play? P.S. We live in the country with bears, etc.

  1. birds do not move their young like cats. yes there was foul (fowl) play involved. I doubt it was a bear though, I think you would have noticed a bear on your deck. could have been a feral cat, raccoon, or even a rat.

  2. No, birds are not capable of moving their babies...sounds like a predator got to the nest and ate the babies.
