  1. to PR the baby doesn't need any passport, just birth certificate and/or social security.

to canada he/she does need a passport.

  2. if you're departing from the U.S., nope. but in canada they wont allow any american that have a criminal record, so it would be wise to get a police record check before you get there so they wont turn you back.   a couple friends of mine drove to canada from Connecticut, and when they got there they would not allow her husband because he was arrested once.   they had to spend their vacation in maine instead.

  3. Not to go to PR since is a US territory.

  4. http://www.us-passport-service-guide.com...  has all the info on getting a child passport.

  5. im pretty sure she or he would

  6. That depends on if you are a U.S. citizen. If you are a U.S. citizen you do NOT need a passport to go to Puerto Rico or Canada. You will need a current (valid) driver's license or ID provided by the Dept. of Motor Vehicles (state), or for example a federal issued ID (military), or local issued ID. Your baby will only need his CERTIFIED birth certificate for P.R., Canada, Mexico and Hawaii.

So, we the exception of Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Canada, and Mexico, you and your son will need a passport to travel outside the U.S.

    According to the government's website

    http://travel.state.gov.passport/get/min...

"All children regardless of age (including newborns and infants) must have their own passport" to travel overseas, with the exceptions above.

    So:

If you fly to Canada or Mexico you and your son NEED a passport

If you drive to Canada or Mexico you and your son do NOT need a passport

Canada will require a passport at their borders beginning June, 2009
