Question:

Will my 1 and 1/2 foot long sucking fish suck up my 2 inch sucking fish?

i have a big sucker fish he is about one foot and 1/2 and i was told if you had smaller fish in the same tank he may suck them up on axcident. will

i also have a pretty small gold fish in there but a little to big for him to suck but i could be possible im more concerned about my baby sucker fish.

if you can tell me if this mith is true or not that would be great and could my huge one mate with my small one?

  1. evaluate the size of the mouth of the larger fish not the length.

    I'm sure that most aquarium fish sold in stores would joyfully be inhaled.


  2. i think that you are talking of false algae eaters (i made it up but it is baisically true).  you could be talking of chinese algae eaters.  they never eat algae and they eat other fish's body slime.  all you can do is get rid of it.

  3. By sucker fish I presume you mean pleco, in which, at that size I presume a common or sailfin pleco (needs 80-90 gallons or more ideally) and is a tropical fish. They are known for sucking on the slime coat of goldfish and shouldn't be kept with them.

    The majority of plecos are also territorial towards other plecos and despite the size difference I wouldn't put two together without researching the exact species (there are over 700 species of pleco). Not to mention that plecos are very very messy fish and two together as well as a goldfish would cause a huge strain on your filtration.
