Will my 17.5 ft. fiberglass boat sink if the bilge fills up with water?

it is a outboard 120 hp it filled up once and i got on plane asap and turned on the pump,but what if i wouldnt have caught it in time would the boat sink?

  1. No.  Boats like yours are required to have foam filled flotation chambers built into the hull.  It could fill with water, but most likely not sink.   If the boat appears to be taking on water, and your motor still operates, forward motion will pull the water out through your bilge drain area,


  2. It would take a long time for the boat to sink.  The only chance it would possible sink would be if you left it at a dock for days and it began to fill up on water.
