Question:

Will my American hairdryer and flat iron work in Argentina?

I have a power adapter, but when I used a European power adapter to use my flat iron in London, the flat iron started smoking and then it broke!

I don't want this to happen again, and my hair has to look good while I'm in Argentina.

  1. You may have the same problem again. The UK has 230 v/50hz electricity. Argentina has 220v/50hz electricity. American appliances are designed for 120v/60hz electricity.

You'll need a power converter and a plug adapter. However, as you have learned, even that doesn't guarantee that you won't fry your appliances.

I formerly worked in the travel industry and recommended to clients that they leave the hair appliances home or accept that they might fry them. The Argentinians won't mind if your hair isn't quite at its best.

  2. any where there is electricity

  3. If you use a transformer 220V to 120V is gonna be fine !

Don't worry about the 50 to 60 Hz , who cares if the fan of your hairdryer is running  16% slower.

If you want post the caracteristics of your power adapter , and I can tell you if is the right one.
