  1. Yes be sure to get the hitch and if the vehicle is a automatic run it with over drive off or if its a manuel use 4th gear on the highway. otherwise my burn up the transmission

  2. First, make sure you have a class 3 hitch.  Make sure the ball is at the proper height to keep the trailer level.  Some ballast may be needed in the trunk of the truck for pulling the boat up from the ramp.

Second, give yourself 3 to 5 times more gap in between the nearest vehicle in front of you at speeds more than 25 MPH.  Also give yourself 3 to 5 times more room to slow down or stop than what you normally do when not towing.

Third, never go faster than the speed limit while towing it.  Stay at least 5 MPH slower than the speed limit to allow enough time to stop or slow down.

Fourth, if you don't plan to get a more powerful truck, beware of any steep boat ramps.  Avoid these at all costs with your truck when towing your boat as I feel yours will not make it up the hill.

Just curious, does your boat trailer come with power brakes?

  3. i am awesome and i rock the hood right guys?

  4. I guess it depends on what you intend to do. Make sure you have the proper kind of trailer hitch (like the above guy is saying), and make sure you don't do anything where you could get real stuck.

Many years ago we pulled a 2500 lb mastercraft around with a 94 Buick Skylark. It wasn't pretty, and the boat was clearly larger and heavier than the car, but we were able to tow it around. Then we tried putting the boat in the water... well... the boat got into the water okay, but there wasn't enough traction between the car and the grass-ramp to pull the trailer out!

Maybe your truck will be a little better at towing since it's a heavier vehicle.

  5. u will need a class 3 hitch

some cass 3s are step bumpers

    yes u can haul it

  6. the truck will pull it but the problem is going to be pulling it out of the water

ramps get slippery  sand bags will help but your going to ad more pulling weight

  7. Yes,  the towing capacity is fine.  You may have a hard time pulling your boat out of the water though.

  8. Think of it this way, you will be asking it to bench press it's own body weight!

The v6 will pull it but will struggle on hills.

You didn't say what tranny you have. Pulling the boat will take it's toll on an automatic without a towing package (cooler).

You didn't mention if you have a locker rear end. If you don't, I will guarantee you will not be able to pull the out on a rain soaked, slimmy, sandy boat ramp!! Very embarassing (been there done that)! Even with a locker your pick up is so lite in the rear you will have problems.

The last serious but not concidered by most in the hard braking in an emergency situation on the road. Forget a panic stop on the highway or having to brake on a corner with a wet road. The S10 will turn West and the boat will go South. (as in jacknife). Not to mention the liability if your S10 (or boat takes out another car going North!) Ha!

The S10 will do it but for sure you are in for some surprises.

Oh yeah, don't forget to check with your insurance company for coverage when towing!

One more thing. You can go online and get the towing capacity recommended for the truck. I seriousy doubt GM would rate the S10 with this towing capacity.

I towed my American Skier Competition a few times but just back and forth to my summer home on the lake. with my 85 Chevy wagon 6Cyl FWD and I know what can happen!

Good luck and don't forget to NOT LET GO when you are barefooting. Ouch!

    Woody

  9. Yes it will pull it with no problem.

  10. h**l yeah a v6 will do the jobber, have fun boating ...
