  1. quite possibly, but i found with my chinese algae eater that while it was young, it was quite happy to eat moss/algae, and it did a bloody good job too!! only thing is, as they get older they get lazy and will eat anything that's available to them asides from algae and moss. unfortunately in my case this included my black moore........my petsore advised that although it's not officially documented that these suckers go for other fish when they get lazy, it is something they'd heard of before several times and they weren't too suprised when my next question was 'when can i return him?'
