Will my EBT card work in another state?

Question

I am homeless, jobless, etc. Though I *should* be getting on disability soon... anyway, I "live" in California, and my aunt lives in Washington. She needs help with the kids, so I'm staying with her for 2 months.

Before you ask, my mom bought the train ticket for me, but can't afford anymore than that. So I'd like to know if I can use my EBT card while I'm up there?

I'm afraid to call my worker about it, for fear she'll suspend my account for being out of state.

I really don't want to mooch off of my aunt while I'm there, she already has 5 kids and lives in a 2 bedroom apartment. Please let me know? Thanks in advance.

wow the was helpfull cause i live in texas and im about to go to oklahoma and i really didnt want to have to go thu the ttrouble of calling my office and asking them cause for one it will take like hour or more to talk to someone and 2 they are going to find out anyways if they are tracking LoL thanks everyone for posting : )

 The things about an EBT card (hence the name electronic benefits card), your transactions are traced & tracked by the government anyways. So you don't have to contact your worker for her to know, where you are using your benefits at, and what you are spending them on. But to answer your question, yes you can use your card in another state!

Hello, yes you could use your ebt card in differents states i use my NY card in Fl in walmart and local supermarkets... my question is i dontknow if they will discontinue my stamps cuz im in Fl. i get $670 i cant afford to loose that w 3 kids and by myself...

I moved from FL to CA and didn't realize I could use mine in different states and it had developed when I realized it worked here, because I hadn't used it for 3 months.  It did stop working eventually and we had to go to the office in CA and apply.

ok to the few guest that tried to answer the question about ebt being able to be used in other states. yes you can use them. And no you will not be terminated for using them in another state. You can't apply for stamps in different states. i lived in il and moved to az, and my link card worked in az just fine.. once i decided to stay i had my case closed in il and i had to appy in az. My case just transfer to az and i just got a case worker here. And to the very ilinformated guest that said food stamps are for lazy people. honey i must inform you that i am far from being lazy. i work teo job go to school fulltime and i'm rasing three children on my own..my ebt help to make life a little easier when you live check to check and your bill are more them you pay check

 Guest 992, don't post if you don't know whats up...you are wrong, you can totally use EBT in other states...I had Oregon EBT and used it across the country all the way to North Carolina.  After about 2 months of out of state transactions they cancelled it from Oregon (not sure if out of state usage was reason).  It sucks that people like "Guest992" spout out info that is wrong--very ignorant to pretend like you know when you don't.  My question, if anyone knows (Guest 992, I don't want your opinion), is how long can you use it in another state before they cancel it?? Anyone know?  I can't find that anywhere...

No matter what state you have your ebt (foodstamps) in, you CAN use it in any other state, however not every location inside the state!

Some businesses do not have the resources to accept out of state ebt cards. But most large companies, such as Wal*Mart, Target, etc are pretty much a guarantee to accept them regardless of the state you are in.

If you are unsure of a local grocery store accepting them, all you have to do is go to customer service and ask them to check if you can use your card in their store.
